Kerri-Ellen is originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick. She started riding at the age of 5 years old at Geary Hill Riding Stables. She started competeing at the age of 10 in the pony hunters and pony jumpers. Her success continued in the junior and amateur ranks in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions with Coach Valerie Phelan. Kerri-Ellen won her first Grand Prix aboard her long time partner Love Lighter. Kerri-Ellen has also trained and competed successfully in dressage (4th level) and some eventing (Pre-training). She has won numerous championships and reserve championships provincially and nationally and is an EC Competition Coach Specialist in hunter/jumper and is also a Certified Equine Massage Therapist. Kerri-Ellen has trained with some of the top professionals in Canada and the USA, including Ian Millar, George Morris, Tom Hardy, Hugh Graham, Jen Hamilton & Valerie Phelan.
In 1993-2003, Kerri-Ellen was the head trainer and manager of the family business Meadow View Stables. After the business was sold, she moved to Ontario in 2004 to further pursue her equestrian career.
A new passion arose in 2006, when she started working at Woodbine Racetrack. She went to learn to gallop racehorses at training centers and continued to gallop at the track. Kerri-Ellen got her Assistant Trainers licence in 2012.
In June 2013, Kerri-Ellen purchased her first racehorse in partnership with her sister, Kimberley. They went on to claim a racehorse in July and the new business was starting to blossom.
Kerri-Ellen obtained her Trainers licence in Sept 2013 and saddled her first race on October 13, 2013. She came 3rd with Reigners Lane in NW2 Allowance. In 2014, She had 2 winners Birano and Forum Kid as well as some thirds and fourths.
Kerri-Ellen decided to move back to the Maritimes in April 2016, due to family illness, and worked in the equestrian world by getting back to her hunter/jumper roots as well as achieving her degree in Advanced Applied Equine Podiatry. She was based out of Charlottetown, PEI for two and a half years. In November 2018, Kerri-Ellen moved back to Ontario.
Kerri-Ellen is back in Jemseg, NB at her own propety and is available to provide excellent coaching & training at the home base stable and also freelance coach, provide massage and podiatry (hoof care) services in the surrounding areas. She is also available to coach and compete at horse shows.
